Hi,
About a month ago I started hearing a "chk, chk, chk, chk" from my hard-drive... 1 sec. apart exactly... I tired to stop ALL the tasks and services but still I kept hearing this noise...

I replaced the HardDrive and reinstalled windows, and it stopped...
but now it's back... I don't know the reason, might be one of my installations....

Here's a link to a Video that I recorded (Using my digital camera, not software).
http://www.gilamran.com/HDNoise.html

* I have 4Gb memory (Windows shows about ~3.2Gb) so this is not the page file...
* Indexing is off.
* I keep hearing it even if I shut down all the possible processes...(See the video)
* It starts just as I see the windows "login" screen...

ANY help will do
Thanks
Gil Amran

Your drive is probably going bad. I would get a new one and back up what you need. Reinstall windows on the new drive and at most use the old drive for junk storage after a good diagnostic run(s)
