Alright, i just installed windows vista sp1 on my computer, mostly to learn more about the OS, because ive faced some stuff on some friends laptops that had vista, and couldnt solve much because i didnt knew well the OS.
Well until this moment vista has surprised me. Its very fast and stable, even on my single core machine (maybe due to its 2gb).

I have a oced athlon 3500+ (2.5ghz) with 2 gb (4x512 DDR1) and 160 gb SATAII
My graphic card is a high end one...from 2001. A Geforce 3 ti500 64 mb. (I RMA'ed my 7900GT, im still watting for it)
Nothing wrong with that apart that i dont have aeroglass or some other small effects like 3D window flip.

My questions are:

1-Its ok than i dont have aero glass, because the gf3 only suports ps1.0, and aeroglass requires ps2.0, but why not 3D window flip? Is there any option to turn it on? Or it just wont run on this card? The 3D chess game does :P

2-What firewall\antivirus do you use or recommend?

Thanks in advance.

1) The 3D flip is a feature of Aero, so without Aero, you won't have 3D flip.

2) Eset NOD 32.

2. AVAST OR AVG - both free and better than Norton.

ESET

------------------------------ Which Chip? Well, it depends on which set of thieving b@stardz you choose to support: The ones who use insider trading to enrich themselves while running their company into the ground? Or the ones who illegally pay vendors to not support the first group?

If you don't want to pay then AVG Anti-virus is ok for basic protection and Comodo Firewall 3.0 will work under Vista. Comodo Firewall is considered a match for even the best payware firewalls.

I personally use Kaspersky Anti-virus because it can deal with a wide level of Malware threats and good deals can usually be found if you shop around.

If you want an easy, yet good anti virus for your system, I recommend Avira Antivir personal, its free, and saved me from several virus attacks, the only thing I hate that i didnt check into weather i can change or not about it, is at night when its all dark and i get virused, my pc scares the crap out of me with a massive internal beep. Other then that, primo free product
