I am planning to switch from dial-up to ADSL. (No cable, as I'm living in an old unit.)
The current hardware I got are:
- 1 computer
- 1 Notebook
- 1 Scanner (USB port)
- 1 printer (the old parallel port)
- and 1 spare ATX tower (Pentium2, 13Gb)
Is there any ADSL modem out there that would let me connect a scanner & printer to it, so that whenever i connect my Notebook, it would automatically detect the two hardware?
As I don't always switch on my computer.
and easy to set up, as I have zero networking experience.
Also, could someone tell me the different between hardware and software firewall? 'Cause I am having alot of trouble with my Mcafee Firewall and the software for my mobile phone P800.
System Integration...yeah right, thanks to marketing, more confusion

no. all an adsl modem can do is communicate with dsl. you need a router. if you get a router, hook it into the adsl modem, and hook ur computers up to it. scanners cannot be shared on a LAN, but printers can. you can either hook it up to a computer and enable sharing, or buy a small hardware printer server for like 50 bux.
