Ok I have no idea what I did, everything used to be fine.

I had a setup of Cable modem -> SMC router > 2 PC's.

Both computers could connect online.

Ok now, my desktop can access the internet but when I did a IP config, the ip address was the actual IP ( 24.84.x.x) instead of the internal IP (192.168.2.x)
So it SEEMS like my desktop is connecting directly through the modem itself.
I can't ping my laptop or the router with this desktop.

LAptop:
Can't go online.
- did an ipconfig, everything looked fine (internal ip, etc)
- can access router administration

I did power cycles for both router and modem, and did all the ip release/renew stuff.
No idea on how to fix. This is Wired by the way. So basically, I need both computers connected to the internet through the router again.

Router is SMC7004ABR

Any ideas?
thanks

Make sure the router is wired correctly, i.e., the modem is connected to the correct plug. Then run the Wireless network set up on the PC and then the laptop, it's in My Network

It could be your router ended up in bridge mode or switch mode so that it's not actually routing. I've seen some routers with that option. Try hard-resetting your router and see if that fixes it.
