I have a new installation of WinXP. After 5 days of installation,
getting the settings from the old machine, etc, etc, I went to install
ActiveSynch to hook up my PDA. It won't install. It copies all of the
files to the Temp directory and then, just at the point where
Installshield should "guide you through the installation process", it
stops. Nothing more happens. I have tried downloading and installing
the latest Windows installer, different versions of Activesync, the
program on CD, or by download, etc, etc. I have been working on this
for about 6 hours today and am no further ahead! Can anyone helm me???

Hi,
Did you login as a local administrator account on the PC? You must be able
to write to the registry to install ActiveSync.

Hi,
Are you current on the patches for your OS? There is an upgrade to the
Windows Installer that was released as a patch.

Yes. Everything is up to date.

Meanwhile, what's the alternative? Is there another program out there
that will sync a PDA with a computer? I've seen some but I would need
the ability to install programs through the link as well as just syncing
data,
