system logs off automatically

Hello

My cousin has a computer which was working perfectly up until a few mins ago. It is a windows XP and it ask to click the user when he has to log on. When he clicks his name the desktop comes up for about 5 seconds and then the system logs back off and goes back to the choose which user to log on screen. How can this problem be solved?

Could be malware or a logon script that logs off the account. Do a full malware scan in safe mode. Google cureit. Create a new account & try it out.

Is it a legit activated version of Windows? Windows XP will not allow you to log on if it's not activated within 30 days of installation.
