I tried doing a search but may not have been looking under the right topic. I'm curious about the advanced performance option for hard drives in Vista. How much does it improve performance? Is it worth it to get a battery backup (as recommended) or is the performance difference barely noticeable?

I turned it on and didn't notice anything at all. I tried a few data transfers and timed them. This was not a scientific or exhaustive test and I could have been missing something I suppose.
