Why gateway address is not taking?

Hello,
i have tried to connect network in my ubuntu OS but its not taking the gateway which i have entered instead taking as 0 and not working. can any one help me out?

Can we assume you are using default network manager? why are you not using DHCP? Please post verbatim what you are entering.
