I was having problems with a dual/multiple boot install and in one stage in which I had to reinstall XP, XP 'read' my drives as Disk 0 and the other drive as Disk 0! What does that mean? I think that must have something to do with my troubles when I was trying to fix my Linux/Windows system.
I am trying to figure out what is going on. I thought one drive should be 'seen' as Disk 0 and the other one, Disk 1. No?
I read this someplace:

However, moving the drives around can screw up the
BIOS bootup sequence since the BIOS only looks for the bootstrap code in
the MBR on the first physically detected hard disk.
I didn't move any drive around, though, although I unplugged one of the drives to concentrate on the other one.
I would like to know why Windows is identifying both drives as 'Drive 0.' I've googled but can't find the answer yet.
Both drives are SATA. Do you need to know what the drives are listed as in the BIOS? Will that have something to do with it? Or is there something else that is happening?
