What you didn't do is give XP a place to install. It is telling you that you're trying to overwrite Vista and preventing that from happening so you don't end up destroying what you already have.

You will need to create a place to put XP - Either create a new partition for XP on your existing HDD, or buy another hard drive to install XP to. Either way works, but I recommend a physically separate drive.

Then, because you are installing an older OS after you have installed the new, you will need to repair the boot manager. You can find instructions how to do that here:

You have to install xp first, but live unpartitioned space on your hd for vista x64. After you install xp boot with vista dvd and install it on your unpartitioned space. Btw what you need xp 4? You can run it in vmware instead.
