Switch off wireless

Last response: in Linux/Free BSD

Is there some kind of program or app that can shut down my wireless in Linux Mint 10 when I'm not needing it? My laptop doesn't have a physical switch, just a Fn+ shortcut.

Using a Broadcom a/b/g/n wireless card of some sort, not quite sure, but I have a Lenovo x120e netbook.

you can use the command line to do this "sudo ifconfig wlan0 down" and "sudo ifconfig wlan0 up" to start it again.

or your network manager (dont know what mint uses?) can probably do this as well.
