Forum Linux/Free BSD : General Discussion "insert system boot disc and press enter" error when starting Ubuntu 9.10

Hello,

I recently finished a complete overhaul on my Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) theme. However, when I turned the computer on, it says, "DISC BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISC AND PRESS ENTER"

Has anyone else encountered this problem with Ubuntu?

Nope. But it means the system can't see a disk to boot from; most likely the HDD is toast or the boot sector is corrupt or you've reconfigured the BIOS so it's not booting from the hard drive.

Probably. I know that I unhooked the drive so I could try reinstalling Windows XP on my 2nd drive, but I pulled the power cable instead of the data cable....
:pfff:
