Hope you can help . . .
Yesterday (6/29) my desktop icons started flashing off and on. After a while, they just go off and stay off. This even happens in safe mode. I have run nearly every kind of program I know of to try to figure this out but to no avail. I have also noticed that if I try to use system restore, the machine goes through the motions, but will not restore to another time even though I have checkpoints to restore to.
With your answers, please keep in mind that I am just above a beginner with computers - in other words, PLEASE keep it simple.

Try "Set program..." & restart PC.
