Hello,

I am running a dual boot vista/XP, and I have an annoying problem in vista. When I run a game in XP (TF2, WoW etc), the core usage seems to be quite good. WoW runs almost 50/50 on each core.

I recently noticed this is not the case when I run on Vista. Core usage can look like: 90% on one, 30% on the other.... which bothers me... and I believe (at least in WoW's case), that it leads to reduced performance.

I run:

ASUS P5B
E6400
8800GT

Anyone have any ideas why vista has uneven core usage while XP doesn't? I have installed chipset info, and all drivers are up-to-date.

Solution
WoW is not a multi-threaded app... so it's not going to take advantage of multiple cores. There is something else accounting for the difference you're seeing. (Something running in Vista that isn't running in XP)
