I was cleaning my mouse while on desktop and all my shortcuts are invisible now, how do I get them back? Its like the opposite of "Show Desktop", I can still see the "Start" and icons though...

lol, try... right click on desktop > Arrange Icons by > Show Desktop icons.

could you elaborate on this point? one of my favourite pranks is just to take a screen shot of the desktop and set it to the background, then hide all the icons :)

Hi,
Maybe you can try Enterra Icon Keeper. It is an elegant solution to the icons arrangement problem. It works fine for me, so I think it also must be helpful for you. Though it's shareware you can try it for free.
