Windows XP reinstall

I have two hard drives on my computer, one he is several years old, and the active HDD is new. I did clone all of the old HDD to the new HDD. I then re-formatted the old hard drive. My question is, I would now like to now image the new hard drive files back to the old hard drive and use that as the active HDD while I use Virtual PC to get a fresh Windows XP reinstalled (and applications) on the new hard drive, is this feasible?

Yes. However, I would wait until after 1 week before I format/wipe the old drive.
