New computer?!

Hello,
My husband purchased an Dell Optiplex 755 but no O/S ?! A guy at work suggested dowloading a free O/S off of the internet. I do have the laptop w DVD drive but I am not sure how to download the O/S to the DVD drive then load to the optiflex 755.....HELP

Upon review of my desktop ICONS I do have uTorrent (downloads)available???? on my laptop

You are able to download any Linux ISO for free (100% legally) online. Suggestions would be anything Debian based (Ubuntu, Mint, PCLinuxOS, Debian), maybe Fedora, openSUSE, Mandriva. There are plenty of options, but again, I tend to suggest Debian based OS's.

Once you have an ISO downloaded, you can either make a bootable USB drive (using an application such as unetbootin), or burning the ISO to a CD and installing it in the traditional method.
