My Comcast Motorola 6200 outputs either 1080i,720p,480p or 480i. The
default is 1080i. My hdtv accepts the same inputs but converts to 720p.

Does the Motorola convert all native broadcast signals to 1080i, then my
Toshiba converts them back to 720p? If so, would I be better off changing
the stb to output 720p?

Also, the stb has the option of overriding 4:3 signals and converting them
from 480i to 480p. Is this an option worth considering?

I set mine at 1080i and let my tv take it from there... and I also switched
the 4:3 override to "OFF" so it's consistent no matter what other settings
are. This config seems to work well with my setup. Of course the most
important setting on that entire menu is the first item... set it to 16:9!
