Hi,

I have Vista Home Premium and Windows Live OneCare installed. Sometimes when I start my PC I get a red exclamation mark error message in the Notification Area and when I click on it, a window opens telling me that "Windows Automatic Updates is not set to download and install high-priority updates automatically". When I try to re-enable it, nothing happens.

Does anybody have any idea why this might be happening and how I might fix it?

Thanks in advance

Start menu => All Programs => Windows Update

On the left/top of the window, select 'Change Settings'

Check: Install updates automatically (recommended)

Under Recommended updates, check the Include recommended updates when downloading, installing, or notifying me about updates check box.

Under Update service, check the Use Microsoft Update check box.
