Hey fellas, this is a question iv been pondering for a while. but i would like some genuine honest and true answers, no BS if you dont mind.

ok, i need to get a new machine,
i have a case Gigabyte 3D Aurora 570
i have a power supply PCP@C 750 Quad

now this is where i need your help.
im wanting to go intel this time. and i have a few ideas and a few ?'s, and money IS IMPORTANT as i dont have a whole lot to spend, roughly $1500 maybe! lol

1. thinking of getting a 680i mobo (which one is the best to get and no im not overclocking, and will the new penyrn be able to be put in there?)

2. processor (would love to go quad, but am thinking of just going for a E6600, and is quad really worth it?)

3. Ram wanting to go with Dominator, and no overclocking again. which set is the best , i do want 2 gigs of it

4. videocard, honestly a 8800GTX or 8800GTS 640 MB(and which brand)

ok guys, please help me out if you dont mind. thanks again. ill be checking in periodically to reply (at work lol

I would wait for the P35 MBs should be out in a week or so, lots of false ads so far, so maybe Monday?
e6600 is agood CPU for a mid-range system. The high priced options are mostly that right now, high priced, no gain.
Dominator tends to be costly, and you do not need it. Better choice is G.Skill with the Black heat spreaders (HZ model)
What monitor and what types of games. The 8800GTS 640 should meet all your needs.

ok, p35 gotcha. Asus will be my choice. and would you say go for the one that supports DDR2 and DDR3?

as for processor, i think its a good choice, but will the e6600 fit in the p35 board? sorry im not an intel guy lol looking to become one., what about the e6700? worth it for 200 mhz more? and if i would go for a different cooler, what kind is the best?

ok as for video. well my monitor is 19'' i play at 1280 x 1024, and its BF2, BF2142, oblivion, and a few others.

at this resolution, a GTX would be overkill
save yourself some money and buy a GTS

Playing at that res, a 8800 GTS 640mb will be ample.

I'd go for the 680i (maybe even the LT version if you want to save a little), E6600 and cheaper ram than the dominator- the XMS2 in my build below does fine.

If you want to save even more money- consider the 650i or better still use a 965 board (something like the Gigabyte DS3 which Ive built 2 rigs on). No SLI, but still supports 1333fsb cpus when they arrive- a nice board.

And, for the record, overclocking with the 680i is a piece of cake, and the E6600 has got stacks of headroom. Just spend a little on a decent after market cooler $30ish, I'd guess).

a 650i motherboard and 8800GTS will give you the most bang for the buck and save you tons of money, otherwise you look.....good - to - go

That is what I am looking at, not enough extra to buy DDR3 yet. Saw a good review, DDR3 was slow, not good at overclocking YET.
They did not change the Socket yet, just the newer CPUs will be 45mm, smaller and cooler. Go for the e6600, then in a year, there will be more choices and better prices.
Agree, the 8800GTS will do your system just fine with room to grow.

ok sounds good.

so lets review,

Case: Gigabyte 3d Aurora
PSU: PCP@C 750 Quad
Mobo: 680i chipset (but what mobo is the better one, EVGA?,Asus? now i am a big asus fan, so if i were to pick one, what is a great one at a great price?)

Vid: 8800GTS 640 (evga is the cheapest)
i have hd's and all that. so heres another ?

ok mobo, what company
and as for the vid what company as well?

Since money's an issue and you're NOT overclocking, then you've just made my reply very easy:

1) go with the E6600
2) why do you need an SLI mobo? If you really, REALLY want one, go with a 650i instead
3) go with cheaper RAM, Dominator without overclocking is stupid and a waste of money unless you wanna brag (and it ain't much to brag about, sorry). Just get some cheap G.Skill DDR2-800, 2 gigs is cheap now
4) GTX if you're gaming at resolutions above 1600, GTS 640 if 1600 rez or lower.

Fix the first 3 and then you'll easily have money for a GTX and some to spare actually ;)
