hello, I have two di-604 routers. One is in my basement, and the other one is upstairs. The router in the basement has an ip of 192.168.0.1, and the one upstairs has an ip of 192.168.2.1. I was wondering if there is any way to convert the upstairs router into a switch, so it gives ips in the 192.168.0.xxx range? Is this possible?

Give it an IP address of 192.168.0.2, turn off DHCP and don't use the WAN port.

Hi Grumpy,
Can you explain further as to not using the wan port ?
I presume it it wan port of the switcher?

Let's proceed with more info.

If 1st router is d1 with ip 192.168.0.1 and mac ,say,123 ( in short)
If 2nd router(switcher) is d2 with ip 192.168.0.2 and mac ,say,124 ( in short)

Do i connect the Lan cable of d1 to the wan cable of the switcher,d2?
Next,i will have to connect the d2 lan cable to a pc right?

Now that the hardware are all connected, the config now.

Do i need to config the d1 to talk to d2?
If so,what do i do?

Regarding d2:
Do i change it's own mac of 124 to follow the mac of d1,that is,123?
I am told to disable DHCP of d2.
How do i do that? When i check the ipconfig/all of d2,it remains enabled no matter what i do so that means i am missing something?
Should the subnet mask of d2 be the same as d1?
What do i do with the default gateway, dhcp server, dns server? Leave blank or change it?

Thanks for your time and advice.
