Yes. But I'm guessing you don't have much RAM on a computer that old. Have a look at Puppy Linux.

You could check out Slax or Knoppix as well :)

... or DSL or Fluxbuntu or... the list goes on, just look for a relatively lightweight distro and you should be fine

'buntus beyond 10.04.2 (current Long Term Support version) will not work with PIII; this includes ubuntu, xubuntu, edubuntu, et cetera.

Most recommendations above should work. I prefer and recommend a Debian-based distro like antiX_M11 or Swift Linux 0_1_1 (not much difference between the two) or even CrunchBang (the i486 version of Statler), with which the script smxi may be used, but #! (CrunchBang) has its own similar script that works almost as well.
