Hey everyone, I just assembled my new Phenom 2 955 system last night, and I am installing Windows 7 RC1 on it after work today and wanted to get some recommendations on applications to use to ensure my system is up and running at full speed (applications or general procedures). This is the first time I have built a computer and wanted to get as many tips as possible.
Couple of programs I had thought to use - but will take recommendations if there are better things out there:
I like testing stability with OCCT. The more recent versions do RAM testing, CPU testing, and Video stress testing if the card is supported. Have it run through for a few hours to burn in and look for errors. Also the others you posted are pretty good for getting benchmarks or doing preliminary testing. If you need some other ways on how to test out the stability of the newer features in Win7 RC, then you could probably try checking out the Springboard site for Windows 7 on TechNet here:
http://tinyurl.com/832nco They have links to all the whitepapers and video overviews of the new features so you can get it all tested out.
I use OCCT also.
It seems to catch errors sooner than prime 95.
Im not saying it is any better because I tend to run both just to be sure but OCCT seems to find a problem in about 10 mins. if I really screw things up where prime 95 took over an hour to find the same thing.
