I can get a full Vista Ultimate Upgrade from my school for only 65.00 bucks. My question is some people are telling me that I can use windows vista upgrade to do a clean install on itself by installing a unregistered version of the os from the cd without any prior xp or 2000 os.

Is this rumor true?

Also, will Vista Upgrade do a clean install on a Vista unlicensed machine?

I know this is dirty. If this is a bad thing to ask, shut down the topic.

It's not a rumor... there was an article written about this a while ago. You install Vista without the key... then you "upgrade" Vista with the key.

MS hasn't explicitly said you're not allowed to do this... so the legality of it is not certain.
