Does it matter what brand modem I use?

I use bellsouth DSL (level 2) and use the westell modem they gave me.

Can use another to improve my speed?

It won't make any difference what modem you use, the speed is set from the DSLAM when the modem boots.

Won't improve your speed, but if you're like me you're tired of disconnecting 10 times a day with the Westell cheapo modems.
