On my main machine I installed Ubuntu on the main partition, then installed several other operating systems in virtual machines with VirtualBox. I run dual monitors, and the virtual copy of XP runs in one monitor while everything else runs in the other. This is MUCH more convenient than multibooting.

I have other virtual machines for DOS 6.2/Windows 3.1/Windows 2000, Solaris, and FreeBSD.

I also recommend Virtualization rather than multi-booting in most cases. It's just much more convenient.

If you do go this route I do recommend that you use Windows as your base OS however. Linux virtualizes much better than Windows in my experience.
