New Compaq Presario laptop Missing operation system

Hello,
I got this laptop and when I turn it on all it says is Missing operating system.....what do I do?

For some reason (hard drive failure, corruption, etc.), your laptop has lost track of the operating system. To fix it, you will need to reinstall the operating system, either a clean install if the drive failed, or possibly a repair install if the drive got corrupted. Do you have the CD's/DVD's that came with the laptop?

what can i do if you cant open your laptop?pls reply
