I have Windows Vista 64 am trying to run MARS ( a MIPS Assembler Simulator ) and it comes in a .jar. When I click to open it, WinRAR opens and I don't have anything useful that I can use to run this program.

Can anyone help me out?

You have to open it using Java SE: http://java.sun.com/javase/

easiest way is to run this command:

java -jar jar-file

either run it from the command prompt in the directory where the jar file is

OR

use windows run command and put the full path in for the jar-file
