Forum Windows Vista : General Discussion wireless pci card not working

Hi

I apologize if this question has been asked before.

I have a dell dimension 9200 system running windows vista and 2Gb of ram. I have a wireless network card installed which has worked perfectly up until i upgraded the ram to 4Gb, now the wireless card doesn't detect any networks at all.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why the card would work with 2Gb or ram but not 3 or 4.

Thanks

Try to reset the card with the following:

Start => Run

In the dialog box, please type: netsh winsock reset

Then press the enter key and let it complete. That should reset the networking stack for you.

I tried typing netsh winsock reset at the command prompt, i got the following message - the requested operation requires elevation.

Run the command prompt as administrator... it's under Accessories.

Thanks for that, it worked but hasn't had any effect on the wireless card.

remove the device from device manager, reinstall drivers with the latest ones - that's what I would try

BTW what does device manager have to say about the device?

I've tried removing the device and reinstalling it and it still doesn't work.

Device manager reports that the device is working properly.
