Hello all I just built my new computer and I'm trying to install Vista x64 Ultimate onto it. I pop my CD in, hit a key to boot from it when it asks to, then I get the two black screens the first where it says Windows is loading the files, and the next with the bar and Microsoft.
After that I receive the Vista splash screen background, where it is supposed to say Please wait/Install setup. But I just get the screen with the background and no text at all. It just stays like that. I put my cd into my laptop to check and I got the Please Wait message and the install choices.
I tried an old burner I had and I got the same issue. I also tried installing with just one stick of RAM and same issue.
Hardware:
Asus SATA dvd burner
Q6600 Quad Core Processor
Asus P5Q Pro MoBo
HD4870
WD 640gb HD
4gb Mushkin Ram
On some systems you have to wait a LONG time - try giving it an obscene amount of time and see if that does it - put it in and go up to the cafe and get a cup of coffee and cross your fingers it'll be good to go when you get back

Watch the HHD activity led you may think its doing nothing when it actually is, there is a seriously long pause where it seems its locked up but it isn't, as notherdude said, give it more time.
