can't install XP updates

Hello -

I recently reinstalled XP Home after a motherboard crash. I then downloaded 92 updates from the MS update web site (which isn't surprising since the original XP cd was about 2 years old). However, after all the patches downloaded, I got a message that "some of the updates did not install" followedc by a list all 92 patches. None of them had installed. I tried this several times without success. What could be blocking XP from applying the patches it has already downloaded?

Try this. Click Start then Run. Type in services.msc and hit enter. In Services, find Bacground Intelligence Transfer Service (BITS) and enable it and Apply. Then download and install the MS updates.
