I just got this replacement of my 2 year old defunct Hughes E86. The past few
days I've been trying to get this new reciever to work as well as my old E86.
At first, i hooked it up exactly the way I had the previous one. But I found
out its not cut and dry anymore. Seems all recievers act differently. My E86
setup made it easy for me to watch my OTA channels in different tuner of my
Projection tv. It also made me be able to have PIP, which directv doesn't. My
vcr worked just fine too. NOw, either there is a limitation of this rca unit,
or its defective, even if new out of the box. Directv techs are useless, so is
rca tech. RCA tech told me, that the set is new, so there is no info on it. HOw
nice that they put a unit out in the m arket and no support to back it up. With
this unit I cannot get my OTA channels back into that tuner, which means no
more PIP. My vcr cannot scan my channels correctly, if I cannot get my local
channels to be viewed as I did before. I could only get 3 channels scanned and
I'm in NYC. I am able to view and record my directv channels though and get
hdtv when available. Is there anyone here that has this model and have success
in hooking it up as I mentioned?
