So I'm going to be handing down my pk5/epu to my wife who is a die hard XP user and as it turns out I cant find the Raid Driver ANYWHERE. I know the sata controllers have a "compatibility or enhanced IDE mode" setting in the BIOS but I don't know f this will mean Win XP will automatically detect the drive as a IDE drive or if I will need to make a floppy as I have done in the past for her Sata drives.
The pk5/epu doesn't allow RAID config, something about the southbridge, I didn't really read into the details, only that it doesn't support RAID0/1/etc...
Before I spend the cash to upgrade her to a new Intel chip I need to know if the board is compatible with Win XP and if I do or Don't need winXP raid drivers to install the OS.
I have checked ASUS.com and they dont even offer the raid drivers for that model, they do however for the P5k Pro - which does in fact support raid configs of RAID 0/1/etc...
I actually answered my own question a few mins ago, I had a spare drive so I poped it in my PC (the one tha has the ASUS p5k mobo) and unplugged my current HDD so I could try to install WinXP.
Went through the install without a problem - so I think we are all set, sorry for the wasted space but hopefully someone will find this info useful in the future.
