Reply to ROBO_DUDE

i would go for the GF8800GTS 320, and no from what i know
400W isnt really enough i would get something around 500w to be on the safe side

The 8800 GTS is about twice as good as the 7900 GS, if not more.

But, a 400w PSU will not hold it. You will have to buy a better PSU.

Look at the PSU FAQ in the poster above you's sig.

You said 8800 GTS...

Well, 7900 GS 512 vs 8600 GT.. I would still go for the 8600 GT, but make sure its a GT and not a GTS.

Ah okei? but tell me? if my budget is tight but i want a good performance and quality card, what do you recomend? 7900GS OC 512 or 8600GT or GTS or the 8800 GTS 320?

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

Tnx....this is the one i want to know from the pros! so it means 7900GS 512 OC version DDR3 is a good choice?foor both performance and quality? hehehe tnx i think i can still use this on future games that will come??

On a budget teh 7900 is a good card to have even the non OCed 256mb version.

I just picked up the BFG 256 7900GS for $100. Seemed like I wouldn't find anything better price/performance wise that was reasonable. Should be noticably better than my 7600GS, which will go to my bro.

Reply to bardia

Do you think we can still use it for future games? 2 to 3 years max?!

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

Like wat performance will be lost?but you know i have this 7600GT card, i can still play any games in high settings..

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

The hell??!!! do we suppose to buy every month a new card??? it's a waste!! it's not very applicable now a days! damn! so wats the best idea??

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

good move! are you having a Sli in your system? 2x 7900GS?

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

So you mean you only have one? if i put two of this beast on my system do you think it will reach 2 to 3 years in time? even on vista and DX 10?

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

But there are forceware or new drivers for DX10 to be downloaded for sure? and DX10 software can work on the 7900GS right? even on vista..?

The GTS is simply overclock. There is no reason to buy the GTS because u can easily overclock the card to the same levels after u buy it.

If u want a card that will last u a long time, spend over 200$.

The 8600 GT is a good choice because with it u get SM4.0 wich upps the image quality, but isnt all that important. If u dont care about that, then get the 7900 GS if its really all that much cheaper.

Reply to Track

whats an SM 4.0?? does it makes the system fast or it makes the graphics good?explain pls...

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

ah okei! now i get it? but the performance? who's much faster?

Reply to ROBO_DUDE

Tnx!! now i know wt to do! mobo? any suggestion?

Depends wich PC.
Since the PS3 can do 1080p, if u have a 1080p HDTV it may be a better idea than buying an 8600 GT PC.

If u already have a PS3, then u arent going to have enough money for a PC that can beat it. This means that u lose the ability to play with a mouse and keyboard, and every other PC gaming advantage.

Reply to Track

so your telling if i want to beat the ps3 i need to spend more money on my pc?

The 7900GS OC'ed V/S an 8600GT is about even performance.

Note that even the prey results are driver issues.

If you only want 7900gs performance heres the GPU I would suggest.

True the 8600GTS is about the performance of the 1950xtx at less than 1600X1200 but its $50 more than the 8600GT. That said the 8800GTS 320 give a much larger gain differance from the 8600gts than the 8600GTS does from the 8600GT. For the price I would go for the 8600GT or the 8800GTS 320mb. I would place the 8600GTS and the 8800GTS 640mb on a no buy list.

God dammit!!

NEVER buy the GTS. Its just an overclocked version and its not worth an extra dollar!!!

Hah, I'm sure you joking with this guy. The only Dx10 worth buying from NVidia is the 8800 series. 8600 would chug along in Dx10. 7900 series is still fantastic for Dx9 and runs circles around 8600s for price/performance.

Yeah that was totally my thinking when I ordered it. Figured I'd up grade to a DX10 around Christmas if I needed it.

Phew, for a second there I was wondering if everybody else knew something I didn't about the new DX10 cards.

OK OK!
If you can afford a 8800 Series card, go with it.(no matter witch model you can afford! GTS320MB/GTS640MB/GTX/Ultra)
If you can't go with X1950XT/7950GT.
If you can't afford a X1950XT/7950GT go with X1950Pro/X1950GT/X1900GT/7900GS.
Don't buy OC'ed versions (as you can easily OC them) unless the OC'ed version comes with a better cooling!
Anything you do, just don't buy a 8500/8600 Series graphics cards!
Good Luck!
