Hi there,

I've got a hiper Type R modular PSU - I hear the 2900XT needs certain connectors to power it properly - does this PSU provide them?

Cheers

Mine is the 580W Tiper R version - so it wont run the card at all?
I only bought it about 4 months ago!

My system is:
Athlon AM2 dual core 4400+
2 x 250 GB HDDS
2 x CD/DVD drives
1 x graphics card (x1800 at the mo upgding to 2900) May add crossfire later as have option.
Sound Card.
2 GB ram

Is my Hiper Type R ok to run as it is? But if I upgrade to new GPU (maybe even an 8800) which new PSU would you recommend? I am looking at about £60.

Cheers

Why don't you wait a bit for the 65nm refresh it will use less power and clock far higher.

When will that be?
May just go with Nvidia seeing as ATI AMD seem to be pretty rubbish at getting stuff out on time at the moment.

I don't know if I am overstressing my PSU, but I have an FX-60 and a 2900XT on my 550W dual rail PSU. I has been perfectly stable in high demand tasks like Oblivion. But, better safe than sorry. If you can buy a new PSU, you should. And try to get one with at least one 8-pin PCI-E power (it only needs 2x6-pin, but you can use overdrive with 1x6 and 1x8-pin).

Who says there will be a 65nm refresh? I doubt it.
