I've been thinking of upgrading to vista for a while now, ever since they got the driver support sorted. What i wan't to know is will i still be able to use all the same programs, games, etc?
My current system is:
E2180@3.3Ghz
2xDDRII@1100Mhz (soon to be 4 GB - then 6)
8500GT (soon to be HD4850)
Realtek on-board sound
cheap genius webcam
small (250gb HD)
Applications/game i run
Adobe CS4
Office2007
Jet audio
Other small video viewers/converters
Encarta 2007
Google Chrome
AVG
Zonealarm
Crysis
Farcry 2
Will all of the programs run on a 64-bit system or would i need to spend hours trolling through web-sites looking for different compatible software?
Bit of a nob question i know. i've searched and found that most 32-bit software will work on vista64 but how much is most?
Thanks

Watching you 'troll' around through different web-sites looking for different compatible software for an 8500GT, HD4850, cheap 250G HD and Office 2007 and all the rest of the things you have listed would be a riot.

ok, i know kind of a noob question. i assume everything will be compatible but i thought i'd ask first. i just used the vista upgrade advisor and got this message:
Far Cry 2 Ubisoft 1.00.00 Microsoft This program must be uninstalled before upgrading to Windows Vista. After upgrading, you will not be able to reinstall the program due to compatibility issues. For more information, go to the vendor's website
wtf? i thought far cry 2 ran better on vista???
Also sound card and webcam ins't supported Is the upgrade advisor also the same for vista64?
oh and i meant 64-bit software that is compatible with vista64. I'm sure i can get drivers for all the hardware. It's just all the little day-to-day programs. i remember reading a while ago that it wasn't worth upgrading to a 64bit os as there wasn't enough 64bit software out there and lots of 32bit software wouldn't run
The things that are not compatible with Vista 64 are old hardware. Like old printers with poor driver support or no Vista 64 driver available. Old wireless nework cards are also suspect. Generally speaking, Vista 64 has no problem running the stuff you have listed. You may find something a bit dated (old) that will not be compatible.
