Do you think Microsoft is rushing Windows 7? It doesn't bring that many features and will not even have DX11!
According to The rumor feed http://rumorfeed.blogspot.com/2008 [...] -dx11.html Windows 7 is basically a Vista refresh (or a finished version of Vista from the looks of it) and will not even have DX11 at launch.
It looks to launch with DX10.1 and be patched to 11 when the time comes.
This struck me as odd. Is Microsoft rushing Windows 7?
Since DX 10 has only barely started to get used I hardly see how DX 11 is very relevant at all. When the time comes patch it in. If I am missing something here please explain it to me. From all accounts Windows 7 is actually stable and polished even in the pre-beta version I am posting this on. A more polished, elegant version of Vista is exactly what is needed really. Vista as it is works fine now.
DX11 won't increase the graphics really, only to an extent if so,it's mainly working on SPEED: Multi-threading,parallel processing, and incorporating other features. If anything,it's a good thing for people like me.
Could you give us a couple insights on possible features or improvements.
Are they getting the improved search and If I remember correctly file system concept that they were trying for Vista working?
never mind I saw the other post DUH
Honestly I don't know much yet. The GUI of this PDC version is almost identical to Vista but when you start poking around you do see some changes in the various menus - so far it seems snappier and less in your face than Vista
It boots very fast but then again I have no anti-virus running as there appeasr to be none for 7 yet.
Web browser, defender, and a few gadets running and I'm at 735 meg used on a two gig system but who knows how much of that is superftech anyway, which makes memory comparisons hard.
I wonder if 'folder views' will finally stick now? LOL i never did find the fix for that, if there is one.
So far no 'ribbons' that I can see.

Ah, to get a copy, well, you needed to be at the MS PDC 08.
. . or someone who knows somone who knows a PCD attendee. If you prefer an offical channel then I suppose you will just have to wait.

No, these guys are so slow considering how much money they have.
They should make a new OS every 2 years.
XP lasted for 5 years. That's totally bogus.
Most software cycle is around 2 years. Heck Adobe is 1.5 years!
A "Service Pack" is NOT a release! Maybe it's the monopoly effect?

LOL cmon man:
1. They need to get it out because of how bad the press is on vista even though vista to me is not "that" bad
2. Whether it is included in the release or an update why would that mean they are rushing it out? So should we wait for an os cos the gaming part of it is not the most current thing there is? I think not
