I am sure this has been asked before....
I did attempt to read through as many posts as possible before posting
this...

I am getting ready to upgrade to a Comcast DVR.
Can I record programs to a DVD recorder (which I havent bought yet) from the
Comcast DVR?
If so, can those be connected using standard RCA cables or do I have to
connect them in some other manner? (Firewire, S Video, component video and
audio)
thanks

I think it depends on what kind/brand/model DVR your cable company
uses. I have the TWC SA8000HD and the only output that's active is
component. RF, composite, S-Video, and DVI are all inactive and not
operational. I don't know much about DVD recorders but i don't
believe you can record from a component source and if this is so
then there would be no way for me to record from my SA8000HD
to a DVD recorder since all the other suitable outputs are inactive.

However, many cable companies are starting to use the new SA8300HD
and users report that all outputs are active so in this case you'd be
able to record via S-Video or composite.

You might want to check the various forums at AVSForum.com - i'm
sure this has been discussed there.
