When I turn off my computer, my mouse still has power to it. My keyboard doesn't, but my mouse does. Unplugging my computer power cord makes it shut off and removing my mouse from the socket turns it off.
When I turn on my computer, it almost turns on twice. The first time, my two fans (120mm, 80mm) turn on really quick, then shut down. Then they turn on again a second later and everything boots up.
Is having my DVD ROM MASTER and my HDD SLAVE a bad thing? If so, how do I fix it?
When I was plugging in all of my power cords, I couldn't figure out which ones I should use with which. What I mean by that is, the cords with 4 holes goes into my hard-drive, but the cords would have 3 of those on it.
I.E. PSU--------4HPWR------4HPWR-------4HPWR----->HARD DRIVE
PSU--------4HPWR------4HPWR-------4HPWR----->DVD ROM
PSU--------4HPWR------4HPWR-------4HPWR----->80 MM FAN
|______120 MM FAN
4 = #
H= Holes
PWR=Power
Is that okay what I did or should I try to use as few power cords as possible and put HDD/DVD on the same one like I did with the fans?
My core temps when I first started my computer and had it on for 20 minutes was:
System: 47 Degrees C
CPU: 24-26 Degrees C
After cleaning up my wires (which I will take a picture of to see if I did a decent job)
System: 32 Degrees C
CPU: 18-22 Degrees C (reached 22 after 10 mins being on)
Playing Civ 3 for an hour I got my system (after cord clean-up) to 42 Cels and CPU to 32.
Are my temps okay?
Another problem is, I can't get my HDD LED to work. I read my manual and it refuses to work. My power led works, my power button/reset button work, but not my light that shows whether or not my computer is thinking. It is plugged into what my mobo manual said is the right one. I think
My system says I have no SYSTEM FAN. My CPU fan is plugged into the MOBO and my 120mm/80mm fans are plugged directly into the PSU. Am I doing something wrong here?
My last problem is I have two USB slots in the front, a speaker slot and mic, and a Firewire port. They all have cords coming out from them which are currently not plugged in. On my motherboard I have three YELLOW USB labelled pin slots. Do I just plug it into one of them? Second, I can't figure out where my Firewire plug would even think of going. Third, the two audio slots have 6 little tiny hair plugs and I know the slot on my mobo that they go, but I have no idea in which order. My manual doesn't tell me. It says if I plug in them, my usb plug, or firewire plugs wrong I can damage my system.
All in all, though...I really enjoyed this. I don't think my problems are too major. I would definately do this again and I can't wait until I can upgrade again. Plus, my case looked ugly in the internet pictures, but I really like the look in real life .
I came across two very important lessons...Mobos are the true warriors of a computer. God bless their little hearts because if my mobo was my girlfriend, I would be in jail for domestic abuse.
AND now I know why people spend extra $$$ for pre-assembled computers. There is a very large learning curve in my opinion.
Any help very mucho appreciatedo
