Fresh install and have AMD64 hal.inf with Intel processor?

I have an ASUS P5ND2-SLI (BIOS 0701 - newest), Intel D805 processor. I just did a fresh install of XP 32bit with an immediate upgrade to Vista 64bit. In trying to get everything right, I've been into the Device manager to make sure I have all the right drivers. The computer is listed as ACPI x64-based PC. Shouldn't this be listed as Multiprocessor? If so how can I change that? Also in looking into this I have discovered that the C:/Windows/Inf/hal.inf is for an AMD64?? Windows seems to be doing alright and everything seems to be working, just want to get max performance instead of just working lol. If you need any more information, let me know.
