Hello: I'm trying to do a clean install with the vista 64 dvd, will it format my hard drive for me or must I format the harddrive first?

it'll give you the option to format or not.

thanks for the quick reply, trying to install vista 64 but seems theres problems in paridise. it locks up while trying to load windows i get as far as the little rolling green bars on the bottom of the screen and they roll a couple of times then just stop.... Now i've got 4 gigs of ddr3 mem installed could i need to remove 2gigs til after the installation?

It shouldn't be a problem. I have XP64 and Vista64 Business on my home machine, and I didn't make any changes when I installed.

4 gigs of ddr3 meaning? what 2 x 2 = 4 or 4 x 1 = 4

Whats the brand? speed ETC?????????

Memory timings and voltage may need to be set manually, especially if its OCZ

4 1 gig pc 10600 mem sticks by super talent
1 sata hitachi deskstar 7k1000 h.d.
I checked everythink out before i bought them but maybe something slipped by me....

Do what 4ryan6 said and if that does not do it then install with 2 gig and see what happens.

Are you seeing this abortive windows screen early, shortly after booting the DVD, or later, well into the install? If it's early on you may also want to try another optical drive.

this is my product description,and main thing is blue screen shows some time not daily it is uncertain.. i got new problem in pc that is my computer trips the power supply beetween restarting means when posing is occuring after msi logo that time pc trips the power supply with all lights, and starts after 2 sec & 3 secs. some times pc dont gives the display, and till the display is comes pc reboots again and agains. means monitor is not getting on. and when i clear the CMOS then display comes. thats the reasons i replace my SMPS but my problem remains same. so what is the problem of this error remains constant. till now means from puchased the board i got 2 problems till now. 1st is system fails during work and 2nd this display problem....
Please help mei like to tell you i got the problem of blue screen error. that time i am listening the songs and suddenly song is stopped means krrrrrrrrr like sound and system failed, and following error is shown on blue screen.
