format USB drive for XP Pro 64

I have Vista,I have another drive,but it's currently not available to use.

What I want to do is to get a Cruzer Micro 2GB,and format it to have a bootup for Windows XP.

Is this possible?

Would it permanently damage the flash drive in any way?

should be fine, but invariably much slower than Vista.
