I need to upgrade my video card to support playing Battlefield 2142. Currently I have a 64mb card, I need to up grade to a 128. Any suggestions that are moderately priced? I do realize you get what you pay for and it will effect game play.
system specs:
HP Pavilion a622n
2.6Ghz
P4 Processor
512DDR SDRAM
160Gb HD
First of all, Battlefield series need some serious amount of memory.
So before graphics card upgrade, you need to get another 512MB memory.
For the Video card upgrade, as mpilchfamily said, first you need to check your Power Supply to make sure that it can handle a better video card.
Last, if your power supply can handle a GeForce7600GS/GT AGP then you will see a big improvement in Battlefield 2142.
Good Luck!
about the best PCI graphics card you might still be able to get your hands on would be a RADEON 9250 PCI 128MB, but you're seriously kidding yourself if you think that will run 2142
you have two PCI options. they both can play the game on low/medium they are
Gf 6200 128bit 256 ddr =$92.99
or
Ati x1550 128bit 256mb DDR2 =$106.99
those are the two best cards that are also a good deal, and they are both
128bit with 256mb ram
so they will be OK
and with your system they should fit in, as for ram you can get something like this
G Skill 512mb DDR = $33.99
so it should hit around $150 max
