Ok, I'm going to build a new rig and I'm torn between xp 32-bit for $80 and 64-bit for $150. I am primarily a gamer, the new system will have:

core 2 duo E8500 3.0 ghz
asus P5Q Pro mobo
2gb gskill DDR2 1066 ram
2 x 320gb hitachie drives in RAID 0
evga gtx 260

Drivers aren't the problem. My question is, will I notice any difference in speed/load times/frame rates with xp 64-bit? Or will 32-bit running off a raid 0 be fine?

If I had the money, I'd get 4 gigs of ram and disable page filing. Does anyone know if that would be noticeably faster?

to help you a little, a friendly person said in one of my threads that you wont see a noticeable difference in ddr2 800 and ddr2 1066 ram doesnt exist (even though it does say its ddr2 1066) so if you wanna save some money just go with drr2 800 ram. and also i think it will be a little faster, if i was you i would get xp 64-bit so in the future and keep upgrading you ram to your desired amount, i currently have 2 gb and im getting xp 64-bit so i can have 8 gb, and we do have similar systems. hope any of what i said helped.

go ahead and upgrade to 64-bit, i havent heard anything bad about it

The one deal-breaker I just found out is that there's no iTunes support or iphone drivers for xp 64. Well, there's a hack around it but it seems really complicated. Can't live w/o my iphone so, I guess i'll stick w/ 32-bit xp.

iTunes works fine on XP64 Bit. I had it on for a while for my GF's iPod. It just runs it in 32Bit mode instead (called Windows on Windows).

Bingo!

Just download it and install it. It'll put itself into "Program files (x86)" rather than "Program Files".
