"my computer" icon is not in the "Start" menu

go to start menu,right click,choose properties,then start menu tab,then click the customize button,then click on advanced,go through the scroll box and check what you want and un-check what you don't want.....

I think a quick registry edit should do it. Follow these steps:

1. launch regedit (run > "regedit" )

2. Go to the following directory/user key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\NonEnum

3. If you can't find NonEnum, create a new key (right-click on 'Policies' folder, New > Key, rename it to 'NonEnum'

4. In 'NonEnum' folder, right-click and select New > DWORD value and rename it to:
{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

5. Set the Data value of the DWORD to 0 to show 'My Computer'

6. Reboot and cross your fingers...
