Which is the best OTA receiver available at present, money being no
option? My Samsung SIR-T165 which was always finicky to begin with,
just quit working alltogether after 1 year, and I need to replace it. I
would be very skeptical of another Samsung product.

I have a Samsung SIR-T451 reciever for a month and is behaving pretty good.
Got it from Circuit City for $250 with $50 mail-in-rebate.

I have the same receiver and have had no problems (24 months or so). If it
went dead and I needed a new one I'd wait for the 5th generation devices.
Hopefully they will be out soon.

Why would you wait? Do you have a substantial multipath problem that
your current receiver can't handle?

I've had a Pro Brand HD3150 ($230) from Circuit City for a couple weeks and
am pleased with it. It doesn't have DVI, but that wasn't critical for me.

Isn't a fifth generation due any day now?

What is the benefit of these?

I'd wait for the 5th generation devices.

Yeah, thanks. That's what I've been looking at. Do you know, is the
LST-3510A the same tuner, but with the bundled progressive scan DVD
player that upconverts to HD, or is it an older tuner?

The addition of better Multi Path Digital TV reception..

Under Multi-Path 'reflective' Digital TV reception....

The Tuner/Receiver software is improved to

both discover the Multi Path problem....

and possibly make the 'phased' signals stronger

by 'proper' addition.... Rather than ignore

the Digital TV channel as weak or distant....

Probably by mid-year. A lot of folks are getting by quite nicely with
the 4th gen chipsets already.

Only if you need it. Mine is 4th gen and the reception is perfect.
Again, your geographical location to the source is critical.

I'm not sure. I've heard that the ATSC tuner in the 4200 is better but
I have no first hand knowledge of that.
