Linux PCI Parallel Printer Problem - HP Pavillion Tags: Printers PCI Hewlett Packard USB Linux Last response: January 11, 2012 9:07 PM in Linux/Free BSD Share chrislongski January 11, 2012 3:46:59 PM I have found out through HP site (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/models/deskjet/des...) that my printer is not supported on the USB buss. This machine runs Ubuntu-Cups 11.10. If I add a PCI parallel card, will Linux recognize a printer supported on the parallel port the same way it recognized a USB-supported printer ? Will I then be able to step through the installation like occurs with a USB-supported printer? Also, should I install the latest HPLIP?
