hard drive space

Hi,

I am trying to download some stuff from bittorent. But I am unable to because there is not enough space on the disk. This is strange because my computer's hard drive was recently cleaned.

do you have multiple hard disks? what did you use to clean it the last time? More info would be helpful to diagnose.

In particular, how much free space does Windows say you have on your disk(s)?

No I don't have multiple hard disks. I didn't clean it. Somebody else did.

I can't access "my computer". So I don't know how much free space the hard disk has.

I don't know what information to give.

So just tell me what information is needed.

I think the first problem that you need to address is why you can't access "My Computer". Having said that, people rely on GUIs far too much. Just open a command prompt and do a "dir" of each of your drives (C:, D:, etc.) which should show you, amongst other information how much free space you have on each disk. If you don't have much free space on your drive(s) then you need to find out why (if it's not obvious). That's fairly basic stuff.

But as I say, find out why you can't access "My Computer". Do you have the icon but can't open it, is the icon not there, or what is the problem?

The icon is not there. That's the problem.

Can we assume that you've googled "My computer icon missing" and tried the many suggestions that you'll find?
