Horrid 2900xt vista 64 performance

Here's my system specs...

CPU: AMD 4400 X2
RAM: 2GB PC 2700
HDD: 1x100GB 1x300GB 7200RPM
MB: ECS RX480-A
PSU: OCZ game xtreme 600W
Onboard audio

VC already stated.

Everything runs perfectly fine in xp.

I've been thinking it was the drivers but wanted to make sure. They really blow if that's the case. Playing any games the fps is all over the place even when just sitting there at the same screen the fps jumps up and down.

Yeah, it's the drivers, which is pretty surprising because Ati had stable drivers for their previous generation cards at Vista's release; Nvidia still hasn't gotten it right. Maybe it's a DX10 problem.

can't expect DX9 32bit designed games to be that great on DX10 64bit Vista. The DirectX implementation is different for Vista/DX10 than it is for DX9 on previous windows. Give it some time, some driver improvements, 64bit support/patches and when DX9L (think thats its codename) comes out to allow DX9 apps to function normally in a DX10 environment and vice-versa things will be smoother
