Has anyone else noticed performance of the 2900xt in vista 64 is severly lacking? My previous generation ati card is outperforming it. Just curious to know if it's just my system or if others are experiencing the same thing.

I've been thinking it was the drivers but wanted to make sure. They really blow if that's the case. Playing any games the fps is all over the place even when just sitting there at the same screen the fps jumps up and down.

Yeah, it's the drivers, which is pretty surprising because Ati had stable drivers for their previous generation cards at Vista's release; Nvidia still hasn't gotten it right. Maybe it's a DX10 problem.

can't expect DX9 32bit designed games to be that great on DX10 64bit Vista. The DirectX implementation is different for Vista/DX10 than it is for DX9 on previous windows. Give it some time, some driver improvements, 64bit support/patches and when DX9L (think thats its codename) comes out to allow DX9 apps to function normally in a DX10 environment and vice-versa things will be smoother
