Guys,

I know my server is aging. But its only for home use. I do testing on it before applying to clients. But I was hoping into converting it to serve media stuff or storage. But SCSI is really expensive.

Here are Details:

Intel P3 1.2GHz (single)
512MB
36GB x2 SCSI raid 0 within PERC3/SC (PCI slot 5)(4 bays remaining) option expensive
onboard 1Gb LAN
intel pro 100 pci (slot 6)
CMI 8738 sound card PCI (option) pci-x slot
TV Tuner PCI (PCI-x)

Buying SCSI drives could enable me to buy SATA drives with higher capacity. Perhaps buying SATA controller (pci) with eSata ports will be an option.

I think you hit the nail on the head. It seems you are not expecting high performance for this, so I would get an add-in SATA card and add SATA drives.

i'm wanting to use it as media server this time. Buying more SCSI drives will cost more. I got a licensed Windows 2000 Server on it. It's for my home network storage. If only SCSI drive are affordable in our country.

36GB SCSI 10,000RPM = Php 10,200.00
While seagate 320GB SATA 3Gb = Php 4,200.00 only

Will this card be ok?

Any other suggestions? What I'm afraid is the stability of the system might be affected once I install unknown brands into the server.
